SUMMARY

Reporting to the VP of Data, the Technical Program Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the technical aspects of projects for the Data team at Artera, ensuring that all components of the projects are completed on time to the required specifications. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, define project scope, develop project plans, and identify project risks.

The TPM is also responsible for ensuring that the Data team has the necessary resources and tools to complete the projects successfully, and for coordinating the tactical work in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Machine Learning and Data Science to achieve team goals.

This individual will have a solid understanding of modern data methodologies and tools, as well as strong project management and communications skills. They must also be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Other key responsibilities may include managing project budgets, conducting project reviews, and reporting project progress to stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages assigned technical projects to ensure adherence to scope and schedule 
  • Creates, refines, revises, and documents standard operating procedures, policies, SLOs, SLAs, and other standards and processes regarding the assignment, resolution, and articulation of tasks for the Data department
  • Develops, maintains, and revises plans for technical projects including project objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications, timelines, funding, and staffing
  • Sets and tracks project milestones; manages and accounts for unforeseen delays, then realigns schedules and expectations as needed
  • Analyzes risks and provides regular updates to Data leadership regarding projects status and any problems or potential problems. Takes proactive steps to minimize delays in delivery
  • Establishes and implements project communication plans, providing status updates to affected stakeholders
  • Facilitates gathering and validation of project requirements
  • Ensures all parts of assigned projects are prioritized, organized, documented, and progressing according to predetermined timelines and deliverable dates, excepting timeline changes as described above
  • Regularly coordinates with the members of the Data and Engineering teams to organize inward-facing cadence calls, check-ins, war-room sessions, and any and all other meetings in adherence to Data roadmap 
  • Develops and communicates detailed specifications for implementation. Negotiates plans and timeframes, ensures that clients understand the anticipated results and maintains rigorous documentation 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM preferred (additional experience is also accepted in lieu of a degree) 
  • 5+ years of related project management or account implementation/account management experience
  • Strong generalist knowledge of data disciplines, including data engineering, analytics, data science and machine learning
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies 
  • Ability to deal with: 
    • Rapidly to shifting constraints and requirements and propose, reform, and finalize process and team/personal practice to match
    • Ambiguity and willingness to bring problem-solving hat to collaborative define requirements together with stakeholders 
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extremely organized with great attention to detail
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and other project management tools

BONUS

  • PMP certification is a plus
  • Experience working at a startup or in a SaaS environment 
  • Healthcare experience

SALARY RANGE

Actual base salary will depend on experience, skills, education, geographic location, and/or internal equity.

$115,000 - $169,000
