About Us: Artera is an AI startup that develops medical artificial intelligence tests to personalize therapy for cancer patients. Artera is on a mission to personalize medical decisions for patients and physicians on a global scale.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented medical student contractor to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in our mission by assisting in the manual annotation of whole-slide images for our projects. Your contributions will be pivotal in advancing our AI-based biomarker development initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities:

    • Perform precise manual annotations on whole-slide images, including but not limited to identifying tissue regions, quantifying biopsy cores, assessing tissue levels/sections, evaluating normal tissue contamination, and identifying artifacts (e.g., out-of-focus areas, pen marks, ink, dust, folds, etc.).
    • Collaborate closely with our research and development team to ensure accurate annotations that contribute to the development and improvement of our AI-based algorithms.
    • Maintain meticulous records of annotations and provide feedback on image quality or any anomalies encountered during the annotation process.
    • Adhere to established annotation guidelines and quality control procedures to maintain consistency and accuracy in annotations.

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Currently enrolled as a medical student with a strong interest in medical imaging and pathology.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent observational skills.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Comfortable with repetitive tasks and working with digital annotation tools.
    • Proficiency in the interpretation of medical images, especially whole-slide images, is a plus.
    • An understanding of medical terminology and pathology concepts is a plus.

Education and Experience Requirements:

    • Enrollment in an accredited medical school program.
    • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Prior experience or coursework related to medical imaging, pathology  is advantageous but not required.
    • Familiarity with image annotation tools or software is a plus but not required.
$15 - $25 an hour
This position is capped at 40 hours per month.
