As a Data Collector/Field Scout, you will be the instrumental to the success of our operations and will be a key part of the team developing the future of farming. Your role will be to manage the deployment of our development robotic systems in the field. Reporting directly to the Head of Field Operations and Engineering, you will collect data and run field trials on our newest robotic systems. The data you collect will be used to help train the AI as well as provide our mechanical and electrical engineers with valuable insights on how our system works in a real world environment.

This will be a full time role from April - August 2024.

Responsibilities

    • Robot Management: Drive the robot throughout the day to observe how it functions.
    • Data Collection: Operate robot in different field environments and collect machine learning data to improve navigation and crop/weed detection system
    • Communication: Send feedback and status updates to our mechanical and electrical teams on a daily basis. Effectively communicate via Slack and/or Confluence
    • Field Trials: Conduct field trials of the newest robotic systems, monitoring their performance and effectiveness.
    • Transportation: This robot will need to be moved via Aigen provided transit van to different locations throughout the season
    • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Identify and resolve technical issues that arise during the normal operation of the robotic system in the field

Requirements

    • Strong technical background: Preferably college engineering student or graduate
    • Drivers license
    • Proficiency in interpreting and understanding assembly instructions and engineering documentation
    • Strong communication skills are key for this position
    • Knowledge of electrical systems a plus
    • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools
    • Knowledge of farming is a huge plus
    • Willingness to work outside 8 hours a day
$20 - $30 an hour
